Shetler Appointed To Hospital Board
Chosen To Fill Vacancy

The Gordon Memorial Hospital District Board of Directors has named Dr. Joe Shetler to fill the board vacancy created by the resignation of Kathy Wolkow. The term of the appointment will be until May of 2008. Kathy submitted her resignation in July of 2007 when she was hired as an employee of the hospital.

Dr. Shetler brings 18 years of experience as a health professional and businessman in Gordon. He is an Optometrist and partner in the Chadron-Gordon-Pine Ridge Vision Center. "Joe asks questions and brings a good outside perspective to the board. We look forward to having him as a board member," stated Rick Burleigh, Board President.

"The hospital is an integral part of our community for the health care it provides as well as the economic impact. I am inter- ested in making the future of the hospital as positive as possible," stated Dr. Shetler. He also plans to run for a permanent position on the Board during the May election.

In addition to Dr. Shetler, current Hospital Board members are Rick Burleigh, Loren Paul, Dr. James Panzer, and Dr. Jim Sasse. Terms for Dr. Shetler and Loren Paul will end in 2008 and the others will end in 2010. According to Sindy Coburn, Sheridan County Clerk, incumbents must file by February 15th. Non-incumbents may file until March 3rd. The election will be held on May 13th and new board members will take office at the first board meeting following the election. There is no filing fee, however all candidates must be residents of the Gordon Memorial Hospital District.
