Murder Probe Storm Stalled (Headlines of January 6th, 1949) 59 Years Ago this week
Lie Detector Tests Scheduled For Monday Postponed
The investigation in the murder of Doctor Edward Flynn, was like all other local projects, stalled by the heavy blizzard. The investigators found themselves separated from one another and from their witnesses and suspects by west Nebraska's drifted roads.
County Attorney Jordan in Gordon and Sheriff Hills in Rushville reported there was no news to be released beyond that already published. Sergeant Jack Knudtson of the criminal investigation section of the safety patrol was in Chadron Monday and has not returned to Gordon.
Sergeant Knudtson, an expert investigator and schooled in the use of the lie detector, arrived in Gordon last Wednesday night. The sergeant, who has received a great deal of credit for the solution of the May murders in Omaha, has spent his first days in Gordon getting acquainted with the Flynn case. In the May case Knudtson proved a tireless and far-traveled investigator and with his lie detector test of McClelland provided the first usable information that led to trapping McClelland.
