Dr. Browder Writes to Keep the Memories Alive…

Dr. David Browder
Ray Hamilton's death was tragic. If you've forgotten, Ray was a rancher/pastor in the Sandhills. One day he was riding his motorcycle from the Pleasant Point church to his home and was struck and killed by an 18- wheeler. Dr. Browder happened to be traveling in the Sandhills at the time of the accident and was informed that Ray had been killed. Dr. Browder thought a lot of Ray and like the rest of the community was shocked that something like this had happened.

A year or two after the accident, Dr. Browder was talking with a friend and Ray's name came up in the conversation. The friend mentioned that the accident had been somewhat forgotten in the passing of years. It was then and there that Dr. Browder realized that people like Ray Hamilton should not be forgotten and he determined to do something about it.

"I think a lot of the people that I worked for in the ranching communities." Doc continues, "There is a special breed of individual in this area and their character and stories need to be told."

Since retirement, Dr. Browder has begun to write the stories that function as pieces of his life's story. He comments, "I enjoy writing and I realized that if I didn't write many of these experiences down, I too would begin to forget them."

Dr. Browder has written two books: I Should've Said Something and Worth Remembering. Both books have been published by a company that Dr. Browder found on the internet. He has cut costs by doing his own editing and designing. The second book has been published in a larger print so that it is easier to read.

David Browder was born and raised in Kansas. He graduated from Vet School in 1970 and worked for six years in western Kansas. He then moved his family to Gordon and joined Dr. Johnson and practiced in this

area until 1985.

In 1985 he began working as a Veterinary Medical Officer at various packing houses in the Midwest. He is now retired and he and his wife Dorothy have purchased a home here in Gordon. Doc remains active in gardening, reading, watching sports and writing.
